Google Chrome first impressions
Yesterday, I heard about Google Chrome, and downloaded it to give it a shot. The first impressions are very good. The features I like best are:
- Quick multi-threaded loading
- Very clean interface
- Tabs on the title bar. This was strange at first, but now I like how it gives more viewing space for the page itself.
- Space, again. This browser is so nicely designed, that I get to see more of the page than with any other browser.
- the New tab, where I have preview-links to my most visited sites
- resize any text area you encounter on any site
- nice Download manager
- quickly importing all setting from Firefox
- stats for nerds
Things that could be improved:
- I can’t make the home button link to multiple pages. I can set the browser to start with multiple pages opened, but I can’t seem to do that for the home button
- mouse wheel scrolling doesn’t feel right
What keeps me from using it as my primary browser
- The rich-text-editor on the XNA forums is shown as a plain text editor, with no support for adding links, formatting text, and inserting code blocks. And if I write some text there, all new lines disappear in the final post, resulting in a ugly one-paragraph post. And as much as I hate the erratic behavior of the rich-text-box (with disappearing paragraphs, and crappy undo, and stupid right-click context menu), I can’t live without the ability to link to stuff, or highlight my point.
